ortofon nightclub e/s confusion

I've got 1 ortofon nightclub e concorde, and one ortofon pro s and I want to ditch the pro s for another nightclub e. I'm considering saving some money by just getting the nightclub e stylus and fixing it on the concorde that now holds the pro s... but I'm not totally sure if this is meant to be done.

The concordes both look identical, they work fine when swapped round, and as far as I understand, the only difference is that s has a spherical stylus and the e has an elliptical. The only thing making me think this isn't meant to be done is that one of my concordes has a '1' underneath and the other a '2'. So if the e/s thing makes any difference at all to the concorde then I'll have to buy a whole new concorde; if not then I can just get away with buying the stylus.

Hope that all makes sense... let me know if it doesn't as I'd really appreciate some help!

Not sure if I have understood the question but basically all the Ortofon styli are interchangable so it shouldn't be a problem.

Cheers

the stylii are interchangable, but you won't get quite the quality of the nightclub out of a pro cartidge with nightclub stylus

yeah i was having a bit of trouble explaining my logic (or lack of it) there! the two concordes i have seem totally identical but it was just the wierd numbers on the underside that threw me. Thanks though!

ok so does that mean that there is some difference in the actual concorde between an s and an e? I know s means spherical and e elliptical, but is there any difference apart from that in the actual concorde part (i.e. not the styli)?

OK I've compared the spec on pro and nightclub and I see what you mean (slightly different output voltage, tracking force e.t.c.). Cheers tubby!

interesting... i always thought that all the concorde carts were identical, and that the only differences were between the stylii... but i guess not.

Looks like it - you can compare the specs here:
