no i know what you're saying, but sometimes it's easier to want to give something up then it is to actually give it up.
By this i mean, music. More specifically, playing it loud. I find i have little control on how loud i play the music as when i'm in the 'mood' and getting into things i tend to turn it up a little bit. Before i got these ear plugs i always found myself going "shit it's too loud"
A slight dose of tinnitus will make you realise that not being able to hear silence ever again is a horrible thing.
Plus my hearing means a lot to me, and i'm hoping with the precautions i'm taking at this young age (22) i'll be able to hear things when you might not be able to. Being deaf/hard of hearing isn't fun..
Think about it, they have correctional surgery for a lot of your body, your ears are one of the more difficult things to fix.
A movie actually got me thinking seriously about all of this actually (funnily enough) 'It's all gone Pete Tong' Dunno if you've seen it?
I do know what you're saying though, but think you're being a bit naive..
Again that's only MY opinion.

Thing is im partially deaf in my right ear, and because of the shape of my ear canal even if i wanted to i cant wear ear protection / inner ear headphones. And yes i know what its like to go deaf, everytime i get a cold and my sinuses swell up i lose all hearing in my right ear, also making it hard for me to keep my balance. Had grommmets fitted to try and help, never worked tho
Its never stopped me playing music loud, i just wanna enjoy it all whilst i can
