Thanx guys, I thought as much. Its actually not my own recording. I have played with compression, limiting, filtering so far and got it much better than it was, but obviously not perfect.

I agree, it depends on how bad it is. If it's horrible, I'd suggest trying out a few plugins as aquila suggested. Is it female vocals?

it depends just how bad the cliping is. If it is a minute click, it can be drawn out in protools (and probably other sample editors), but if it is a totaly overdriven recording, then it is best to rerecord if that is an option.
