Dunno UAD-1 dsp card and E-MU 1820/0404

I've read good things about this card and I was just checking to see if anyone on these boards have used it. If so I'd appreciate it if you could write a little review. (I did a search and nothing came up)

also if anyone has experience using the E-MU 1820 or 0404 feel free to post a review on those also. I looked at some previous threads on the 0404 in this forum which had mixed reviews on the drivers. I'm just wondering how the latest and newest drivers are performing cuz they look like decent cards to fit my setup.

Thanks for any reviews!

Put it this way.....I've used an EMU 0404 and my experience with it wasn't something I would like to remember. Yeah, I bought it because it looked like a nice piece of kit, but the ASIO drivers just couldn't keep up with latency from VSTi's in Cubase.

The only good point about the card is the DSP effects which sounded
excellent. But I could only manage to run 1 or 2 before the card started crackling and sputtering.

IMO the 0404 is not really cut out for the semi-pro and the ASIO drivers were lousy. I can't say the same for the higher end EMUs because I decided to saty clear of all EMU related gear after the problems with the 0404.

The 0404 is a cheap card (the software that comes with it is worth more than the card itself), so if you are thinking of buying it then go ahead and find out for yourself, it's not much of a cash outlay and you could always send it back (after you've thrown it acroos the room a few times that is).

And there you have my review of the EMU 0404.

Emu Hardware samplers 9Now unavailable New) Rock

Emu Sound cards suck 9They're basically glorified Soundblasters, now they're owned by Creative.

Sucks to see the end of a once great company

alrite thanks... i actually just decided that i was going to get a mackie onyx firewire mixer. it has an audio interface with built in dsp effects so i don't think i need an e-mu anymore. also, i think i'm gonna just get an m-audio audiophile 2496 to fill in as a sound card that way i have some sort of midi connection to my computer. then my next purchase afterwards is probably the uad-1. . it'll probably take another couple months to save up for the uad-1 though... =/

nice...the audiophile is a solid card with some excellent digital IN/OUT config section.
