You want to control mp3 files with your turntables? You can get the final scratch or serato scratch live setup. GOogle it and you will find lots of info

Google for "DJ Decks", its a system just like Final Scratch, only cheaper.

or if you want to use traktor as a mixer, you can put your TT's into two different line-in channels of your soundcard.

well if you want to build an interface that can do that. i think you might be able to do it but i dont really see the need dude. like i know what you mean but honestly i just get over how you would want to use you computer as a mixer. like maybe it maybe beneficial in live send and return fx but there nothing else i can think of also maybe use midi controller with asignable nobs to make it interactive. also the inputs for turntables need to go through a sound card interface.

well atleast your thinking of new ways, tell me if there is anything like this. but it is a very possible idea.

only reason why i would use traktor is to play digital files, not use the turntable audio input into a virtual mixer.

dude im not sure if you are able to assign these audio inputs (need most likely 2 sound cards) into traktor but there is deffinatly something to do with that in traktor in settings cause it has stuff to do with inputs channels (shows name of sound card), but the question is can you assign audio inputs to cross fade and all of that.

i will have a look myself just for the curiosity, only reason im thinking of at the moment is designing a vst fx return and send fx back into the mixer.

man you got me thinking dude, but i sure traktor only allows its digital decks?

cheers tell me how you go

cheers

you can't plug TTs into a line in
they need a pre-amp, you won't be able to hear much

and traktor will only mix with the 2 sources it has, i don't remember if there was the option to mix with an external source

your best bet is to get TTs with an external mixer and to hook your laptop into the mixer, you can disable the internal traktor mixer and have the 2 sources run to different channels

This might be a little off topic, but can anyone recommend an external soundcard for laptop that will be compatible with the 2 channel mixing option in Traktor? As in, one would be able to plug in monitor headphones and mix like they would with turntables.

Thanx!

well the reason i want to use traktor as my mixer is because i have a brand new powerbook (graduation present) and i don't really use it at all. i don't want to be an 'mp3 dj' so i was just curious if i can use tt's with traktor/vinyl...i work down the street from native instruments, i'm literally gonna walk in there one of these days with my laptop and tell them 'make it happen'

let me know if you figure out how to do this man, thanx a lot!!!

then what would be the point of hooking up my laptop to the mixer if i'm not gonna be using the laptop?

If you dont have the turntables yet buy midicontrollers, an external mixer and ableton and you will have alot more you fun in the long run.

i got the tt's. i got the vinyl. i don't have a mixer but i have a laptop. i don't wanna get into live just yet, i reallllly wanna stick with pure vinyl...anyways...i think it is possible...check this out...

2. "Classic" DJ Setup/Club Setup:
For live performances in clubs, and use in the professional studio.
You need: Laptop or desktop computer, multi-channel soundcard, external hardware DJ mixer.

In principle this configuration is just like a classic turntable setup: in the TRAKTOR audio setup dialog window click the "external"-button (the internal DJ mixer will disappear from the screen). Run the two to four TRAKTOR decks out individually through the stereo outputs of the soundcard and into the line inputs of the DJ mixer, just like turntables. Crossfading, EQ and monitoring are done on the DJ mixer, track selection and playback, looping, cueing, filtering on TRAKTOR.

You can also add TRAKTOR to a classic turntable setup, to use both TRAKTOR and vinyl. For this the hardware DJ mixer must have stereo line inputs in addition to the phono inputs.
