Thumbs down Jury Duty

I've just been given the big slip in the mail to go to jury duty for the first time in my life. The only reason I don't wanna go is because I heard it's pretty boring. If the jury vibe was similar to the way they do it on Law & Order then I'd go, but after listening to the true reality of being a juror I'd rather not go. So my question to the COR is how to avoid going to this?

I will say this. If you ask to be excused by the judge, youd better have something good, or prepare to publically lectured on civic responsibility.

Want to avoid jury duty? Don't register to vote. (If, however, you live in a state where they pick jurors from the DMV Licensed Drivers list, then take George Carlin's advice: tell the judge that you'd make a great juror because "I can spot a guilty person just by looking at him!")

You should see IGK's link. It's mostly satire, but talks about civic responsibility and discusses briefly how your local government cons you to believe that stuff. Oh yeah and to Mr. T: achoo!

I'm not registered to vote and they nabbed me two years ago. I showed up and they let us go before lunch, no trial.

One way to get out of it are if you are away from your home state. My first one I was in GA and I got JD in CT. I was excused for it. Everyone that goes does not get picked to be on a jury, usually you just go and they blab about what would happen if there was a trial, then they select a few people. Might not be so awful to just get it over with.

exactly. I read the link and the few examples it did really are some good ways to get out of it. If they paid a decent wage, jury duty wouldnt be so bad, but (here anyways) its like 10 bucks per day

if you are any of the extremes such as too liberal or too conservative, or that you are discriminant against a certain type of people, you can be excused. theyll give you some questionaires to find this out before actually letting you be a juror.
