CDj pitch issues

So far I have only used cdj100s when mixing and havent used much vinyl.

I noticed that after i have beatmatched and cued a track the beats start to misalign after 8 or so beats. Is it becasue I havent beatmatched correctly??

Ill be playing both tracks and listening to it throught my headphones and both are perfectly in sync. Then when i cue and press play at a my mix point the beats start to misalign.

Do you guys find yourself in a similar situation when using cdjs and having to pitch bend or readjust pitch to stop a trainwreck after you have done your best to beatmatch the two tunes??

And is it better to pitchbend or move the pitch slider during the mix if the two tunes are misaligned?

And does pitchbending on a cdj jog wheel only cause a temporary change in tempo before heading back to its original tempo? as the display on the cdj doesnt show a change in tempo when u pitchbend.....

cdj100s have increments of 0.1 which is pretty shitty and makes it quite hard to have a mix u wont need to correct.

I love CDJ100s, but just make sure you're on that pitch because you will need to make some corrections for a nice smooth mix.

Ive got CDJ100s and they will sit fine for quite a while only needing occasional playing with. 8 bars is a little short I think.

thank you for all your input its appreciated

Its just frustrating having to always play with the pitch

is it better to pitchbend or move the pitch slider to correct the pitch while during a mix?

either with cd players. its only with vinyl players that its nececery to use the pitch control. you know that after the bend on a cd itll go straight back to the speed you set it at.

i think the cdj100 is fine. it has the same increments as the 800 i think... 8 bars it short. even with .05% of my cdj200 i have to touch the jog wheel every now and then for really long mixes.

Yes.

Any comments about 0.1% pitch accuracy are irrelevant here, 0.1% won't make a difference that quickly.

More practice. It sucks hearing that, but its true.

On average it will take about 20 seconds for beats to noticably slide out from being aligned on the most accurate pitch setting with 0.1% increments. If you're finding it's a lot faster than that more often than not then you should probably look at how accurately you're setting the pitch and aligning the tracks.

With CD decks, as the pitch does literally move in steps I find it can be good practice to use the pitch reading to help you. Say for example got a track set at +3.1% and it needs to go faster and you put it to 3.3%. Then you think it needs to go slower, so you put it to 3.2%. Then it still sounds like it needs to go slower, but 3.1% was too slow. Don't bother trying and set it between 3.1% and 3.2% as the CD deck just simply won't change anything if the pitch reading it gives you doesn't change, so put it back to 3.1% for a bit but be aware that in the mix you'll have to push it up to 3.2% and back down to 3.1% at regular intervals.

Hope that makes some kind of sense... with more accurate CD decks (CDJ800, CDJ1000) this is less of an issue - on 0.05% steps I usually use the same method but with 0.02% steps it can be hard to make small enough movements to only move up/down one 'notch' so I tend to just treat it as analogue (i.e. just ignore the pitch reading and speed it up if it needs to go faster, slow it down if it needs to go slower).
