I'm trying to dig through trance that is not uplifting, empowering, energetic and all that good stuff. Stuff that you would listen to when you're feeling like shit and you just kicked your dog earlier in the evening. A dark, sad and bittersweet feel to the set. Misja Helsloot's set @ Asta on this site is a good example of the kind of feel I am looking for.

Can anyone recommend some DJs who typically structure sets in that vein or any particular sets?

It's just me, but when I'm in that shitty of a mood, I think I'd want to listen to the more uplifting stuff o.O. But again, that's just me. It's not trance, but Dido - Aria is pretty good for a mood like that.
