I saw that and I think its due to the ratings and the whole idea is kinda fucked anyway how are we supposed to keep track when who is who is playing this week

Stupid BBC but I hear JudgeJules show is getting the ax...but it seems as if they are going in a different direction in their programming which sucks...Tong has more rap tracks sometimes and JudgeJules opening 15 is normally mainstream pop/rap

Fact of the matter is they play what will get ratings, and hip-hop is what gets rating, except in Europe, atleast its a combination of hip-hop and EDM, not like in the US. But its what will bring in the money, and thats why they will play it more frequently. If you can get more ratings, obviously more companies will want to advertise, so on and so forth.

First off... its spelled genius.

Secondly, they do have advertising - its not like the kind you will hear in the US on syndicated radio programming, but they do have advertising.

Finally, BBC Radio One might not need the money, but who says they dont want more? The rich only want to get richer. Rupert Murdock is the billionaire CEO of Fox, but he still went out and bought MySpace for 500 million. Why? To make more money.

What your licence provides:
The BBC is paid for directly through each household TV licence. This allows it to run a wide range of popular public services for everyone, free of adverts and independent of advertisers, shareholders or political interests. 95.6% of the UK population used the BBC every month in 2004/5.

from the BBC official website

So youre telling me all the advertising that goes on during the radio shows for parties and events that are going on within the UK, as well as other places is aired without some sort of fee? I dont care what they put on their site, companies pay BBC Radio to make mention of things alittle more frequently.

they might but they are doing that under the table or payoffs which is most likely but normally the BBC promotion for parties are just like those in the DJ Mag and other DJ sites. Its free submission the final word on who gets to be promoted is the publication itself. Trust me this is one of the things I studied in the UK.
