CDJ-200 (Jog Wheel is not smooth)

I'm a little worried, I just recieved a pair of Cdj-200 (Brand New) yesterday, and one of them, the jog wheel is not smooth, the other cdj the jog wheel it's very smooth.

is there somethign like a button sensitivity for the jog wheel, or I just recieved a Cdj-200 that is not in proper conditions.

HElp please
Thanks.

If it works, don't worry about it. If it in some ways interfers with the performance, then it may need to be replaced. However, i've heard that this is common amongst almost all Pioneer CDJs, including the 1000 and 800. I own the 1000 and one of mine is slightly looser than the other, which is more smooth. It doesn't seem to affect the performance that much though, considering I hardly touch the platter, only to cue and pitch bend when needed, and I touch the sides.

yea I got the same thing, one wheel is kinda loose and spins easily and the other seems a lil tighter. Doesn't really effect me at all when mixing tho.

so I don't think it will be a huge problem, but ive never checked around for a fix, like a tightening screw or anything. try pioneer.

Well if it was only for cue and ptich bending, then Iw ouldn't mind tha tmuch
but the CDJ-200 has effects, and it's mch more versatile and fun to play witht he smoother one.

Another thing, is that 2 days ago they were the same, and from yesterday one cdj it's much more tighter than the other one.

Also when they arrive here, one cdj was facing down in the box, is this normal?

the Cdj has warranty, but it will cost me about 175 $ just to send it And recived it back (Beacuse of shipping and taxes, I' am a litte far)

Do you think I can take it to a pioneer center and fix it, rather than order a new one?

I am dissapointed ot behonest, I've been saving and waiting for 6 years!! to have this equipment, and the next day I recieved it, it's seem to not work properly.

i would love to have the cdj1000 only because of its vinyl mode which i prefer over the stupid cdj mode. i play trance so i dont scratch at all, its just that scrolling thru the track is much sweeter in vinyl mode, when you hear all the drums and stuff
otherwise id take the cdj200 because its cheaper

Wll I was at the mall yesterdya, and I foudn aDJ, he had a pair of Cdj-200, I touched the jog wheel, and they were the same as mine that are though.

Anyway, I think it's better fi they are smoother, maybe pioneer has alittle work to do and fix that bug there.

but I'm fine now, I thought they were damaged.

Thanks for the answers to everyone

Like I said, this seems to be an inherent thing with Pioneer CDJs. I've heard a few other people on this forum and on Pioneer's that have complained about the 200 and the 1000s they got having this same thing. I have experienced the same thing with my 1000. I could have taken it back, but the one they could have given me instead could be worse off. Before I got my CDJs, I already took back some Techs, because I realized I really wanted CDJs (and didn't have room for both) and one of the platters on one of the TTs wouldn't go on straight, no matter what I did (think I probably broke the magnet while putting it on or it was broken when I got it). So they would have shot me if I took back a CDJ in exchange for another one, and I had to go to another GC to get one anyways because the one near me didn't have any. But anyways, it seems to be an inherent thing. You just have to get used to it I guess...

its cos one of the wheels is pushed down onto the spindle its mounted to more than the other. i remember my friends 100's did that so we pulled the jog wheel up a little and they were smooth. i think you can pull them completely off and see the spindle without damaging anything. then put them back on slightly less so they dont rub the housing of the player.

hope that helps

Thanks Mate, I just tried that and it did worked, now there's a slighly difference sdtill, beacuse the CDJ that is right the spindle seems to bwe ocmpletely push down, and the one that doesnt work properly, the spindle it's not pushed down completely, it's just a slighlty less, as you mentioned before, and it works almost the same as th eother one, just that now the jog wheel doesn't round perfectly in circles, it's just seems to wave up and down (In a vertical direction) a little.

but it's working fine, I'll leave it like that to see how that works =)

Thanks

Haha I would try that but I'de probably break the 1000 that isn't as smooth (a bit loose, feels like an 800) and void my warranty. Then I'de have to pay a buttload of money to get it shipped to get repaired and then it might get busted in shipping. One of my Numark TTXs that crapped out on me before I got my CDJs, I shipped it back to Numark, only for it to come back with damage to the tonearm assembly, and the casing seemed to have been taken off, with some plastic hanging. It still worked, just not very well. I'de HATE for that to happen to my CDJs, so i'de much rather just use them the way they are, unless they crap out on me and I absolutely have to ship them back (unless by any chance I can find a pioneer authorized repair-shop in my area).

the vertical wavering of the wheel is annoying i know. but not as annoying as having the wheel rub against the casing below and feel rough. i dont know why they dont make the spindle more rigid.. its been like that since the 100 and 500 were around...
