sync test for cubase sx 3

i've never had this problem before while installing SX 3. I just set up a new Motu 828 mk2 card and reinstalled SX 3 ...it keeps failing this asio sync test when first starting SX. ..and says the audio cant sync to the midi..anyone have any ideas? any other time i've installed SX the sync was fine.... thanks.

when i installed 3.1 it asked if i wanted to do an asio test with my 1010 (the first time it'd ever asked that, even with previous versions). i just skipped it and things have been running fine on my end.

Try reinstalling your audio card drivers. Other than that I can say that I always did the sync test after reinstalling sx, and it never failed, on my old yamaha, maudio, or current RME card..

I don't know the Motu products very well. But many card comewith there own ASIO drivers specific to the card;

bypass the synch check and once in Cubase press. ALT,D,D,D,[return]

your now in the Device Setup and you need to select the device 'VST Multitrack'. Here you can select an ASIO Driver. If you have installed you audio device propperly and it is supplied with an ASIO drived it should be listed here.

Select the provided Motu ASIO driver and next time you start up Cubase it shouldn't give you any hastle.

The problem is that standard Steinberg ASIO's support either 16 or 32 Bit recording. Your Motu is probably running at a more modern 24 Bits but will also support 16.

If no ASIO drivers where supplied with the Motu then you need to set your Steinberg ASIO to '16 bit only' mode. If that doesn't help, upgrade your drivers, that's a good thing to do in any case.

kind regards,

Charlie D

Review Latest Track; Charlie Delta - Then The Days Where Long

Music is as universal to people as breathing. We've probably been at it since before we even started talking. Immaging two cavemen smashing away at a peace of flint to make a spearhead. It wouldn't take long for them to learn te synchronise the sound. And there you have it, the words first percussive band.

Music has survived wars, famines, the plague and many other things and has evolved with man across many cultures. Dance music is just the next step in the evolutionary chain. My guess is that it will probably be with us untill we are extinced.
