They've released a new album. Pretty Vegas was the first release. Afterglow is the second.
I'd hope that if I was in a project with 3 brothers and two friends that they'd continue on after I'd decided to take my life and/or accidentally died while getting myself off.
And it wasn't an easy decision for them. They've waited EIGHT YEARS. Michael is hardly rolling in his grave. He left behind a band. There were things I read in their authorized bio about how Michael had lost his sense of taste after being beaten up by a cab driver in Paris. He wasn't the same after that and was prone to violent fits and destroyed equipment in the recording studio.
The band was awesome last night. There was a real passing of the torch with the song "afterglow", which Andrew Farris wrote in memory of Michael. JD made the old songs his own. He wasn't a Michael copycat because anyone knows Michael isn't replaceable It was great. Simple staging as always.
Before they came on stage, there was a light switch illuminated on the black backdrop (to represet the "switched on" tour promoting their "switch" album), replaced with a 5 minute countdown clock, and at 00:00, you heard the opening harmonica for "Suicide Blonde" and the backdrop dropped and off they rocked.
The only disappointment for me was that they didn't play songs they've played other places, like "I send a message" and "Guns in the Sky" (they've never played "Falling Down the Mountain" or "Burn for You", two of my favourite songs).
I'm trying to win tickets for tonight and am tempted to get a ticket off a scalper to see them again.
