ive only just started sending text messages so i'm mega slow at it, hahaha! the worst part is when two letters in a row are on the same key and you have to wait for a second for it to shift to the next letter.
anyways, I have some questions
1. I take it that these days txt'ing has smilies and everything... or is it just plain text like it was years ago?
2. How fast can you text 2 sentences?
3. If somebody has their mobile switched off, will you still be able to send them messages?

1. Well these days they have it all, pictures to sound to go with it, but that's just some people. For me, it's just plain text. Current phones are capable of GIF animations along with the text which makes it interesting. Though you can always attach videos aswell, not sure if all phones are able to do it.
2. Well with the Motorollo when i had one it's a bit different, it doesn't have the T9 Dictionary the Nokia has to finish the word for you, each letter you type it gives you alternatives to your word and you just keep adding letters and choosing the right alternative to make your word, which is pretty slow.
Not the fastest texter though, pretty average.
You could always buy these and it will just determine on your average keyboard speed.
3. Of course it will, you can even set your alarm and turn your phone off and it will still go off.

No matter what kind of phone you got, youll get used to texting with it, and your speed will come up heaps wen you text alot. Texting on any other phone feels retarded after that

My opinion is only get Nokia, you will regret any other phone in the long run.
This is my phone at it is bloody awesome, it is such a cool phone:
the reason i say Nokia is for the fact that other companies make their phones very inferior in my opinion. Though i'm basing my opinion of the 2 big brands other than Nokia and those are Ericcson and Motorolla.
The Motorolla will screw up mostly in the audio area in which you can hear the other side but they can't hear you. This can take up to a year for your phone to be like this. About 5 people had Motorollas including me and they all screwed up the same way.
Ericcson make good phones but they will just malfunction on you simply, one phone i had just turned off and wouldnt turn on, my brother has the one where you it's a tablet phone (P900) and the tablet is screwing up already so early in the phones life.
But i'm sure some models would be better than the other, but i wouldn't risk it.
Nokia can be compared to a Toyota in terms of quality, and that is, the best of the best for your buck.

Actually of the major brands Nokia has the second highest return rate within 12 months.
If you are talking reliability funnily enough the best on the market is panasonic tho i'd never buy one.
Second to them and my preferred brand becuase of style/features/functionality is Samsung. Just about everything else they do is shit but for some reason they get it right with their phones.
Ericsson were the worst until they merged with sony and now seem to be alot better tho.
keep in mind this is based on retail statistics from 2005 so things may change this year.

Faster than a speeding bullet. I can send a number text messages before the other person even replies.
