for the people that use reason.as a stand alone or with rewire.

what do you think of it as a synth in terms of creating sounds?
or does anybody even use it that work with reason rewire?

i think its a very standard arproach to synthesis, like its not the best and its getting old but its still very capable!
im really hoping that they get a new synth in there!
although it could be reason 5 where that could happen, if you dont know they have already designed reason 4 but its all under raps!

i use subtractor all the time, quite a nice synth.

It's a great learning tool, but compared to the soft synths available as VST's( Z3ta in particular), it's poo!

I use it all the time. Since it doesn't have a unison mode, I layer 6-8 of them to get a fat sound. (The unison effect unit is ok, but it is more like a chorus effect than real unison)
Reason is so CPU efficient, layering synths is no problem.

I think it's huge.
Simply by the fact that it is a basic synth with an easy approach. If you want to spicen up the sound or want more oscillators to get near z3ta for instance you'll just need a few more subtractors. it is awesome. And I've been using reason only for a day now.

just tonight i am finaly getting to know how to more effiectivly sound design my patches, especialy with layering as you say. like for my bassline i used 4 subs and it really came up a treat!
also it has an easy programable interface which i like.

i have only used reason for a short time now and am loving what i have gotten out of it. omfg!! talk about subs pads, i have made some really beautiful pads which was a first for me.

if people want to share patches, please post them. i would love to hear some patches of what people have made.

You can create some rather nifty sub basses on it, and combine it with the Scream unit you can get some rip roaring acid sounds from it.

It's an ok little unit - great for beginners (as has already been said) but beginning to sound very dated IMO.

malstrom has such identifiable sound...the only way to use it is to give some air to a supersaw, but for the lower parts of the supersaws subtractor FTW :P

I know what you said .. just tried, anyway I would do this...roll off the low end of your malstroms and put like 4 subtractors for the low end, layer those well with malstrom and voilá you have a perfect supersaw...

though I like experimenting with granular synthesis better
