I hope u like

I had to shorten the samples of the songs that weren't so good so that I could get the file down to a reasonable size. The ones that I think are ok still go for a reasonable amount of time.

The easiest way to do this was to put all of the songs into one OGG file at the lowest quality. Surprisingly its still quite clear. I had to get the file size down to about 2.5 meg so that I could upload it on 56k.

Tracklisting is below

01. Track Title: A Night Out On The Town

This is the first tune where I have used my new keyboard “The Ion”. Those voice sounds that kick in 39 seconds into the track are from the keyboard. I took the vocal sample from “Blade”.

The funny thing about this track is the fact that after the Blade sample I wanted the fill-in toms to sound professional like in "Fatboy Slim – Mi Bebé Masoquista".

Any help on how to make toms sound like that would be much appreciated

02. Possible Track Title: Low Gravity or Silent Footsteps

I really think this track has potential. It started of being a different Idea but once I added the reverb I knew it could sound dreamy. Only problem is... I’M FUCKING STUCK!!!! Hmm, what to do for the breakdown (where the drums drop out) …I have no idea.

Anyway, I want this track to be virtually flawless.

-Perfect melodies
-Perfect choice of synths
-Perfectly Compressed/Mastered drums

etc...

What do you guys think of this track?

03. Possible Track Title: Vortex

Made this when I was working out how to “side-chain”. Side chaining is where you let one element of the song dominate the volume of another.

The most common form is to side-chain the bassline to the kick drum. For every occurrence of the kick drum, it wipes out the volume of the bass and the bass will slowly fade back in (until the next kick)

Do you think the melody is too whiny/resonant?

04. Track Title: Skylight

I think the title is appropriate. I made this in memory of my old house at Hastings. The way the kitchen looked when it was a sunny day but the room still stayed dark except for the Skylight.

05. Possible Track Title: The Way Things Used To Be

Heheh, I started this track after seeing that ad on TV where the Russian Eskimo dude walks into his fridge and he’s outside.

“This is my homeboy Boris.”

Anyway, you probably haven’t seen it if you don’t live in Australia but it had this kick ass track at the end of the ad with electronic drums and electric guitar snippets.

I’m thinking about adding some electric guitar stuff to this track.

06. Possible Track Title: Slow Day Today or Slow Day

Something that I made on a slow day.... Uh.... Yeah.

07. Possible Track Title: Too Much KFC

Something that I made after eating too much KFC...

Making one of those old school hip-hop beats took me over 3 hours but I got there in the end. The Square synth is just the “3 x Osc”.

08. Possible Track Title: Passing Time

The only reason I made such an awful sounding track is because the melody popped into my head one night. It’s been a long long long time since a melody has just all of a sudden come to me like that. I thought there must have been some reason for it, so I turned my computer on straight away and just did it.

09. Below The Root (Original Short Version)

Below The Root was always my favourite game on Apple II. About two months ago, I played the emulated version of Below The Root and completed it. I never completed it when I actually owned an Apple II years and years ago.

Anyway this track was one that I was working on long before I played the game again (after all these years). This track reminds me of the game so I decided to name it after it.

This short version is just a taste of the one I am working on. I decided to end the song the way it does here just in case the full version doesn’t work out. The full version has better drums and better synths.

10. Track Title: Landing Strip

Doesn’t sound too flash but I am a fan of “Mr. Oizo” and he inspired me to make a Lo-FI track. It’s pretty much complete. Yay, I actually did finish something!

Is it horrible?

I suppose you have to be in the mood for it... I certainly wasn’t tonight when I was making sure the song didnt get truncated.

Thanks for listening

hey man.
1st:
awesome breaks. funky bass & fx's + the sample is great in it.
2nd:
sounds very very good so far. just lengthen it and perhaps add a synth that has the same notes as the bassline, or even put them 4/5 notes higher?
3rd:
vortex is a great name. techno.ish feel, i'm hooked! rly great track
4th:
sweet
5th:
wow suuuch a dirty bass. at first i was expecting like a dnb beat coming in, but then a hip-hop one came instead, pleasant surprise.
6th:
i dunno about this. very short, didn't really have time to form an oppinion
7th:
soooothing. kinda like something you'd hear in a hollywood movie. great stuff
8th:
great. love the distortion. sounds alot like a messier http://tychomusic.com/
9th:
cool! you should add a happy melody to this
the vocal input is just great in this. the fx's aswell
(reminds me of http://covox.net/
10th:
... it's quiet.. is it missing? i listened twice to this, so i know that i didn't skip a track...

anywho, these clips are like a album if you ask me. and it's great to hear personal music (i mean, like usually you sit and play around until you find something, but to hear a melody in your head and then interprete it is just what the ultimate goal of music is, imo).. or something. i think you get my point
great work through and through. no constructive criticism, partly for the clips were kinda short, but also because it all sounded pro
thanks for sharing moozic
