What are some decent soft-drum/bass machines?

Yes i am a complete newb to both the software and the terminology.
That aside...i have a cheap M-audio keybaord that i'm using with Korg Legacy cell & Absynth. For the record i also have Cubase sx although i haven't used it much yet. I love playing around with my synths but i'm feeling the urge to create some beats. So what are some of the better apps for creating beats(and possibly basslines)? My only experience with a drum machine is with the original rebirth but i'd like something with a little more flexability.
Any help is appreciated.

NI Battery. Problem solved.

NI Battery is a great sampler for percussion, and Cubase is my favorite sequencer.

Reason has a pretty good drum sampler and also the rex loop player is kind of neat.
I haven't used Reason with Cubase, but I hear they work together pretty good. The Reason devices also use very little CPU power.

What about a beatslicer feature like FL has? Where you just import a drum loop and it will cut each sound out inbetween parts where its silent and auto maps them to your keyboard.. Is there anything like that for cubase?
