where would you go from here?

I stumbled across this interesting loop the other day and I think it sounds really nice. trouble is I don't know how to build an entire track out of it, and I'd be interested to hear where others would go. I'm not asking to have a track made for me, only for suggestions. and be warned that this isn't trance... it's kind of down tempo-ish.

Meh. Not so much vocals. I mean maybe. If you did it right.

I would grab some kind of piano. Definately.

Maybe during a break down. Add a really heavy bassline. I have no idea.

But this little loop does sound pretty nice.

Interesting... I've just read about this same problem in another forum. In truth, I HAVE this problem...

I'm able to make a nice loop, and bassline, et al. But when it comes to arrangement/melody, I get struck.

Some tips I found on that post:

1 - Don't "over-do" your loop. So, you can get bored with it, and you'll end hating it. If you want to make an entire song, work it with basic things first, and add your key elements according to your necessity.

2 - This tip was a must! You have an awesome loop? Copy/Paste it across your sequencer, until it reaches the song duration you want. So, start labeling the song sections like "intro", "verse", "chorus", "breakdown", "outro"... Listen to the whole mess and you'll start to figure out what elements must be added, deleted, rearranged, etc.

3 - Also, you can take a song you like and try to recreate its arrangement. I don't means "copy" the song, but using its arrangement to get your song working. Of course, in this proccess, it's natural to change something, and you can come with a completely different (but cool!) result.

And, of course, listen to tons of songs of the same styles you're working.

PS. Forgive my crappy english.

thanks for the tips. I liked the idea of a piano for a lead, but I wanted something more subtle so I looked around and found some refills for chinese string instruments that I think sound really nice with the sitar. the track is starting to come together really well. here's a rough draft of it.
