ouch. that's a lot.
I'm not familiar with the liscensing fees for the US/CA in terms of internet radio, so that could definitely be a hurdle. But I'm sure there is some way to make money with a station.

Yea I understand the expense issue, but with the amount of traffic this site gets and the dedication a 'tranceaddict' radio station would potentially recieve, I would think that it could rival the top stations on the 'net.

Of course, all of this is speculation.

As far as the expenses of running this forum goes, I can't imagine that Swamper has been losing money on it since its inception. Ad revenue pays fairly well for the most part. Maybe he can give us some insight into that .

I'm really just wondering how much Swamper has looked into this.

p.s. I'm sure it has been brought up before, so don't think that I believe this as some revolutionary idea.

^^^^^^^ License fee.

Sounds very cheap to me when I already have a ready customer base of 64,000 listeners all around the world.

Even ASOT the most popular Trance radio show has a maximum of 9000 listeners at any given episode and still how succesfull it is commercially.

If not a full time 24 hours radio, than may be TA can have its own TA show, a weekly/daily event or something.

I was refering to existing 60,000 registered member base this Forum has. I think you misunderstood me cos of extra 4,000 in the figure I stated by mistake. I meant the fees is not much for TA if it already has 60,000 listeners willing to experiment with this station.

No re read what you wrote

And do you really think people would pay.... no. I would rather have any revenue/money swamps gets for TA to go towards keeping/maintaining and upgrading servers. There are already plenty of stations out there. Why reinvent the wheel just to have every person on this board chime in with what they think 'should be played and not played.'

I don't think he was implying that people would PAY to listen. No other station does that(well, proton is going OnDemand for $9.99/mo)
Why would we? Ad revenue/increased traffic is and should be the main money-maker, not subscription fees.

Although I think you have a good point with the potential bickering about what is to be played, I think you're a little too quick to assume that something like this will fail, lose money, or become a huge hassle (alright I'll give you that one). I think it would bring MORE people to the forums and make it a bigger presence than it already is. More people = more money for 'keeping/maintaining and upgrading servers', one of your other points of emphasis.

Also, in terms of people bickering as to what should be played: just create different streams for the varied genres... I don't think that's too far-fetched, as many station have done so to accomodate different genres.

I have no idea if and how much money is involved in tranceaddict.com, but I`ve learned over the last couple of years, that there is always a lot less money involved in anything in this scene than people generally think.

So I wouldn`t rely on anything like "TA has more than 60.000 members, so there must be a lot of money available".

A lot in this scene is simply done through love for the music and the scene itself.
