Adding Abience/Noise/FX

I find that i realy suck when it comes to just making things sound abit more busy. Instead of adding more leads or more to the percussion i would like to be able to add something else.
So what is some good advice on adding things like background noises and efx that are not melodies.
I know its kinda open ended but im happy to get anykind of answer aslong it isnt some smart-ass asnwer...

Absynth is def good Absynth 3 is out. Spectrasonics Atmosphere is in my opinion the most amazing tool i ever used in my music. yeah its kind of Pricy and all, but sooooo worth the cash. for like white noise and wooshs and things like that. You can get free VST's as well . Crystal is good for things like that also. I believe there as someeone who also posted a link to get the good Woosh VST. ill look around and post it for you.. I had the same problems also. I kept on adding more Percussion sounds more lead arps more backround bass sounds. and felt like still it sounded empty and just not going in any new direction.. You want your tracks to BREATHE. Like Just have that Motion and Build ups... Right now i am have trouble with that. White Noise Helps a lot to fill up that space and is good for transitions. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.( X ) TSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHSHHHHHH

Check out the presets.

I don't know anything better for crazy customizable white noise "whooshes". And much more!

Oh, that's awesome.

I haven't even heard of it until now. It's nice and cheap!

Doesn't look like it has USB though. Does it?

How about pads? I think that's basically what you're looking for.

How about changing up your melody lines to make them more dynamic?

How about counter melodies and re-harmonizing current melodies?

How about subtle and tasteful FX usage?

Change your percussion up?

Use of the stereo image to its full possibilities will make your mix sound bigger. Keeping the right things dry and the right things wet is what it's all about.

Reverb, chorus, phasers, and delay will all help make your mix sound more spacious and "big" as well.

Just suggestions.

it doesnt have USB, it has MIDI only, as far as I know. You can use it with a cheap little M-Audio Controller though.
