I hardly dance 2 trance (hoho!) anymore, mainly because 1/3 of a trance track has no rhythm section.

how about music by, let's say, Aes Dana, on Ultimae Records?
his music may be regarded as 'ambient', or perhaps 'psychedelic ambient', I've seen people call it 'ambient trance'; in my opinion this is pure trance music. and I don't mean 130bpm+ 4x4 trance music.
