Exclamation safety in US airports leaving a lot to be desired

so yeah i saw that on the news last nite (sorry it's my habit to use this sentence but it sounds dumb !) but 21 US airports have been tested by federal agents ...they brought materials to make a bomb like explosives through the customs and all and never been checked .....some even asked to be more controled without success ....some man specialized about terrorism was saying that US were sure that if a new attack would happen it would be again a hijacking plane and not like some terrorists comming into a plane and making a bomb.....
what do u think?and without talking about the US ....do u think safety is good enough in a plane?
i think it's not enough .....like for example i took in january a flight london -detroit ....everything was fine til i land to detroit then i realized i forgot to throw up a lighter and it was still in my pocket ! as u know lighters are forbidden ....but i just forgot and since before to board nothing biped or whatever i totally forgot .....but i mean thats scary !but i have to admit it was dumb of me to bring a lighter with me but i so wanted to smoke til i board

Yeah, I know what you mean with security in airports. Some of the most critical airports like newark, which should be very high in security, lack the zeal needed in order to make air travel safer.

Believe it, or not, the tightest security at an airport that I've been to is Fargo.

Well the way i see it its impossible to keep something completely safe even when you are on high alert, somewhere, somehow someone will get something trough that he in theory shoudnt have. Add to that that the security is not on high alert anymore, since some time has passed since 11/9 and there you have the current situation.

But really, you should pay more attention to what you bring on a plane, I would be wery sad to find out that you have been shot by federal air marshals becouse of that bad habbit of yours Smoking reaally can be hazardous to your healt

The only guarantee of safety would be to have freakin police/military personel everywhere. Ofcourse you'd also end up with a police state then.

I'm curious, who does the security in the American airports?
My understanding is that after 9/11 it became a federal jurisdiction, but it is federal security or is it the State that supplies the people?

(Here in Canada it's the RCMP you'll see at every airport)

My experience with American airports is that the security is MASSIVE, but I guess that might just be an illusion...
