I know this kind of theard is created everyday but I still didnt find what I was looking for when I used the serch engine.

I recently bought two cdj200 and a dxm06 mixer but I really need to increase the sound quality cause my dads old speakers isnt what they used to be

I am thinking of some pretty small speakers (my space is limited) but still with a good sound quality. I dont need the most massive bas you can ever think of just enough for me to be able to hear the difference while mixing in my beedroom.

I dont want to spend more then 350-400$.

So if somebody could recommend just about anything I would be glad

Do you think it makes much diff? If you think about it logically, working in a club is going to be nothing like mixing on monitors anyway.

I have been mixing for 4days so I cant really say I know for sure but I do know its really hard for me to practising when I cant hear any details. My headphone sennheiser hd25 is giving me a great sound quality so when I am listening to my speakers I just get confused

the Alesis M1 Active MK2 is right in that pricerange. I use them and like them very much. They are a pretty popular choice right now, and are even a little bit more bass heavy than most monitors, which makes them a bit funner to listen to if theyr'e going to be your primary speakers, but still accurate enough to master with.

If your'e looking for something smaller, desktop size, you could try the edirl ma-15d. NEver used them though, so I have no clue what they sound like. They run about $180.

I will look more into Alesis M1 Active MK2.
I went to a big music store a few hours ago and listened to ESI nEar 05 because alot of people say they are good for that kind of money. They are suppose to be populour and they are selling alot of them. Though I didn bring my own cd and the store didnt have any tracks with bass so I couldnt really test them enough.

I do have an amplifier, an old one that works well but I think I want acvtive monitors.

Towmorrow I will go to a hifi-store and talk to them and see if they can recommend something.

When I said small I didnt mean desktop small, just not too big hehe

hey guys im also looking for monitors. but for the mean time can i really use my computer speakers ? and when i buy monitors do i need an amplifier or is that optional ? and wut about powered active speakers, are those speakers that dont need an amplifier ?

You can use them but I believe you can only use them with your computer. You only need an amp with passive monitors, not active. Active monitors mean they have their own built in amp to power them. The good thing about these is you can use them without needing an amp or a computer really, so they are quite convenient, for transportation and for just using in your room, you really don't need PAs (even though I have some big 12'' ones, I am looking for some good monitors, but i'm looking to spend more than $350-$400 on them, my budget is $600). PAs are good for playing out at parties, but I find you have to turn them up loud and put them farther away for better sound and less damage to your ears...and the vibration from them on your equipment..

so if your saying that the active monitors have their own built in amp, doesnt that mean im better off with one of those since i only dj in my room ?

Yeah, amplifers suck, unless you have a really good one that isn't loud like mine lol. It's not worth the extra $$, unless you are planning on having house parties. I was a noob when I first started with my DJ set up three years ago, so I got PAs, I didn't know about monitors. But now I do, and am looking for a really nice active monitor set up to replace my old yamaha PAs (S-12Es) and my loud and obnoxious QSC amp (yeah they make good amps, but the RMX 850 is very very LOUD!!).

Yeah i'de suggest going with 6'' or 8'' ones. 5'' is okay, but to really get those higher frequencies and the bass out, you almost need a subwoofer. You could get by with a 6'' without a sub, but in most cases you should probably get one as well. Um 8'' ones seem like they pretty much have enough bass and put out those higher frequencies without needing a subwoofer. This is just what i've noticed from listening to a few, and talking with people on here and at GC.

are you talking here about the sizes of the speaker ?
