[Trance - Full Track] Forward

Here is a link to my latest song. Let me know what you think of it. I'm still extremely new to song writing so be easy on me.

Forward.mp3

I would be interested to know if you think it would be a song worthy of a dance/trance club...

Regards,

Adam

you've got a nice rhythm going on here like the piano and lead over the top.

kick is too weak imo, i like a real driving pumpin kick if its a track for the night club.

the sounds you've created are good but i cant hear your bass, if theres one in it perk it up

piano is nice in breakdown i need to get a good piano vst, any suggestions?

although i dont like the way you've brought it back in far too weak

nice track just get it pumpin and it should lift the whole track

cheers

kane

Thanks! I will have to make some modifications in the future. I did something stupid last night. After I recorded the wave file of the song, I had everything highlighted in Sonar. I accidentally deleted all my tracks. I did the 'undo' and everything seemed fine at first. But, ALL my effects plugins settings were brought back with defaults!!!! This was after a couple auto-saves and manual saves!!! I'm so mad. It will take me HOURS to get it all back to where it was now. I'm glad I got the wave file done first

About VST plugins, I know there are many out there, but for this song, I just used sfz with a downloaded piano from http://www.hammersound.net/.

The Piano filename is RolandNicePiano.sf2. I was surprised how good it sounded being a soundfont file.

I would recommend you look at Cakewalk's Dimension Pro or Native Instrument's Akoustik Piano.

I think the kick could be tighter.

You need a more prominent bassline, I think.

Clipping at 3:54.

3:58 could use a little something to indicate that you've reached a high point. A cymbal crash, or some kind of effect or something.

You're a little sparse on percs, I notice. It'd be nice to at least get some offbeat stabs with a 909 open hat at around 4:00, again to indicate a sort of high point in energy.

In fact, you could do to have a bit more in the high end in general.

You've got some very trippy effects going here, and a wonderful mood and atmosphere. You could just make it a bit more driving.

Thanks for the feedback! I just started my hand at doing this, and I know I have TONS to learn. I really appreciate the feedback, and I take it to heart. I am really lacking on my drum skills. I'll have to focus much more attention in that area on my next song.

Thanks again!

This one's pretty great for a first effort. Unbelievable actually. I would agree with the common consensus, to fix the bass kick and maybe punch up the overall bassline.
Great work Adam! No telling how good your 10th one will be!!
