Stupid question about CDJ's...

Can the CDJ200 do everything a CDJ800 and 1000 can? Well not EVERYTHING but like the 800 and 1000 have jog dials and you can mess with them like vinyls, can you do the same with the 200 or does the 200 only play?

Just wondering cause when you go to the Pioneer site, they classify the 100 and 200 as cd players and the 800 and 1000 as digital vinyl turntables...

Thanks!

Also, dif's between 100 and 200? Prolly gonna pick up a pair of 200's this summer...

I believe the platter on the 200 is just for jogging, no scratching.

The 200 does have better pitch resolution than the 800 at .02% though.

How do they compare cost-wise vs the 800?

Y does no one ever mention the American Audio CDI 500 turntable... With 9 board effects, and similar vinyl feel for the jog wheel as the cdj's. Costs around the same price as the cdj 200, only disadvantage is that it is not able to read mp3's. Just curious because i think it is an excellent cd deck.

CDJ-200 as compared to a 1000Mk2 (plus and minus):

+ mp3 support
+ resume support (will start where it left off if you eject a CD and put it right back in)
+ 3 onboard effects (JET [flanger, sorta], ZIP [pitch change, sorta], WAH [filter, sorta])
+ beat/loop cutter
+ autoloop
- vinyl emulation
- start/brake adjust
- onboard sampler
- cue point saving/memory card function
- wave display
- +/-100% pitch range

i think that basically sums it up. i own a 200, and i love the machine. got it for a great price at guitarcenter (pricematched) and its worth every cent and more.

problem is with most gear that is supposed to be good, but costs little, and is not a reliable brand name, is that it works wonders for a few months and then breaks down

American Audio seems to do it a lot, as well.

the loop in the CDJ-1000 is AMAZING! Once you get the hang of it, is's better the 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 or whatever configuration the 200 has.

never said better or worse.

btw, its not the 1/8, 1/4, and so on like the 800. the 200 has an 'Autoloop/Beat Cutter' button. press once, you get a 4 beat loop, automatically. it's pretty accurate, most of the time. once a loop is playing, be it an auto loop or a manual one from IN/OUT buttons, the button acts as a cutter, hit it to cut in half, again to cut that one in half, and so on.
