Cyclone Larry thread
I didn't see a thread about this so I thought I'd post something and let you guys know how things are going up here.
Larry had reached category 5 by the time it had crossed the north Queensland coast at 4am monday 20th March.
Cairns (where I live) was rather fortunate to be only on the outskirts of the cyclone, where wind speeds only went up to 180-200km/h suffering minimal damage. My house stayed intact but the property around me was swept clean, with trees collapsing into powerlines. This was nothing compared to what's on the news at the moment. Here's some pictures:
The Army have been up here for a while now, delivering aid and helping clean up. All I've been hearing for days is the thunder of chinooks flying overhead as they fly to townships such as Innisfail and Babinda.
Unfortunately my work has had to close down because of the storm damage and I'm now jobless However things are much worse for our neighbouring towns. So keep them (and me) in your thoughts, and maybe donate something....coz every bit helps.
