no, teh 1000 has a more accurate pitch, and its not a scratch feature, its vinyl mode, there are more uses than scratching. Plus the feel of the wheel is wayyy better ona 1000, its not that great ono the 200. |
deffinately, i agree with you on the feel, it is much much better than the 200 but functions wise, isnt the 200 comming with much more usable functions?
pitch wise the 1000 is better too, much accurate, i agree on that too!

No.
CDJ1000 and CDJ200 both have 0.02% pitch.
The CDJ800 has 0.05%.

Nah, the reason they are the "club standard" is because when Pioneer introduced them in 2000 (2001?), they were the only tabletop CD deck that worked really well. And the "digital vinyl" mode was quite innovative for the time.
And Pioneer has been riding that wave ever since... they ARE great players, but they ARE now way overpriced given other manufacturers offerings.
The 1000's are known to be fairly reliable, but they DO still break down. The cue and play buttons are known to eventually fail, and the switch that detects pressure on the platter sometimes can break.
Set a 1000 next to the 200, and it's not really a huge difference in "feel". I have a Xone 92, and that thing feels like a tank (as do my 1200's). I was pretty dissapointed when I first got my 1000's, because they feel "plasticy". The Denon 3500's feel much better in my opinion, but I haven't really spent enough time playing on them to determine whether they are as good for mixing.
As for having the "scratch" (vinyl mode) on the 1000's, I DO find it nice for cueing and such, rather than using the stutter mode. But is it worth $700 more? Not really.
I'd recommend that newcomers take a good look at the 200's, and if they want to spend a little more and get a lot more for their money, look at the Denon DN-S3500.

There are probably many reasons cdjs are club standard.
To become standard features are not very important its all about how well they can stand up against smoke, prolonged usage and beatings from voilent angry djs. The cdj is still new and you most likely will start finding them in clubs and bars but for a dj who has never used cds before the cdj1000 will probably be simpler. Thats just my opinion. |

Actually the 3500's have "different" functions than the 5000. First, the platter really does feel amazing. It's nice and heavy, solid, and there is a LOT of torque. I'm not a scratch person, but it seemed really nice to me.
Second, they lose the alpha track capability, but gain a number of effects. I'd think the effects would be more useful for most of us than the alpha track.

yeah the 1000s are way too expensive for what they have to offer. i played with denon dns 5000 theyr good, theyr very good, the alfa mode and the loops and samples and stuff and the effects. but the only thing i dont like on the 5000 is that they are not direct drive... i dont know the 3000 denons but i assume its kinda the same withouth that much functions. |
