Read This! Metallic Reverse Tutorial

I've always loved how Airwave uses those metallic sounding reverses. It adds kind of a dreamy feel to the song and allows transitions to be more smooth. But umm, if you are looking for something that sounds like...

THIS (Do not right click)

This is how you do it.

First you want a good reverse sound. Try a crash and lengthen it out a bit. I used the crash in Drumsynth Live in FL Studio with an extended release...exported it as wav and imported as sample in reverse.

So the trick is to use the phaser...and have the min depth freq the same as the max depth freq. Ranges around 0.20-0.40 are great for metallic effects. Stages are set to the max with feedback near 1 and 100% wet. Of course you should also add some reverb to give it a *ring* but that's about it! You can apply this to like white noise and other instruments to generate a metallic feel.

Hope this helped!

Nice effect azndragon0613! I'm using the Kjaerhus Classic Phaser and get some really nice effect with it. Which phaser are you using?

- farris

I'm using the Fruity Phaser in Fruityloops but I'm sure other phasers can replicate the sound too!

Try this also:

- Import your Cymbal into your sequencer
- Reverse it
- Add a long reverb
- Resample
- Reverse the resampled mixdown

you have a reverse reverb. Now apply the phaser as noted and voila, in stead of your standard Cymbal you have a swoosh effect anouncing the Cymbal.

hope this helps,

CD

Review Latest Track; Charlie Delta - Then The Days Where Long

Music is as universal to people as breathing. We've probably been at it since before we even started talking. Immaging two cavemen smashing away at a peace of flint to make a spearhead. It wouldn't take long for them to learn te synchronise the sound. And there you have it, the words first percussive band.

Music has survived wars, famines, the plague and many other things and has evolved with man across many cultures. Dance music is just the next step in the evolutionary chain. My guess is that it will probably be with us untill we are extinced.
