Arrow (Uplifting) Cristian Fuentes (160kb Still in the works)

I stopped being lazy and tried to produce a really hard type of prog trance, Uplifting. Its kind of hard to get a nice drive with these kind
of tunes, I definetly need some pointers or some kind of guidance. I don't want to sound like everyone else or like someone else, but I'd like to know litttle tips and tricks to spice things up. Any one care to comment?

It would be really helpful. Thanks your 2 cents are 20 dollars to me

Sounds excellent so far! I especially liked the intro part with those sweeps. Melodies are very nice sounding too!

The bass doesn't sound very defined to me though (but might be these earphones). You could try lowering the attack (if possible), or layering another bass synth on top to give it some more presence.

But hey, what do I know!

And get this one complete please! Really enjoying it.

Yeah sounds very good, the guitar feels just a *little* out of place for some reason, not sure why, might be the frequency on it, but thats my opinion. keep on working with it because it sounds very good!

Alright dude, I'm putting you to the test! JK I'm listening

Nice start, cool effects with the swooshes. I like how the mid/upper bassline is subtle as it sneaks in, but when it has it's full presence, I think you should make it stand out more. Basslines got some highs in there...not my style. More driving percussion can give this song an extra push.

Is that a guitar/harp in the back? Bring it out. Oh I like that synth that sneaks in afterwards. Quality reverb and flanging (am i correct). Maybe add some delay. Then I'd be like . Nice guitar that comes in. Melody sounds pretty good too. Progression I haven't heard in a while.

Good start here dude. I just hope that you have a melody to go with it all. You don't wanna end up with killer instruments with like a weak melody. So get to work! I'm waiting!

Thanks for the tips

I'm glad you guys are enjoying

I'm planning on getting to fix those high freq on the guitar and of course
shower the square synth with some delay. seems like my bass gets lost somewhere in the mix, looks like Ill have to tweak it, right now the bass fre is at 105hz I think, Im not too sure if its peaking or notch or highpass I can't remember but I'll look into it. Thanks alot. Anyone else want to throw their ideas into this melting pot?

hehe I think we share a similar perc sound pack, I hear alot of percs ive got too ..
Kick is really massive, but it sounds filtered a bit, it just lacks a bit of click.
The first minute passes really fast.. nice groove youve got going! I like the fx and the pads. nice melody you bring in! but if you dont want to sound like anyone else, you míght want to try another synth for the "lead". the guitar is nice, its not of place. but it sounds too "sweet" for a heavy track like this, maybe a TINY bit of distortion will help that. (maybe its me, I like distortion heh lol)
..hope my comment helps, but ive got a question for you, how do you make the kick and the bass sound "seperate" from eachother? I mean the bassline I make always seems to take over the bass from my kick..

the intro is cool, with all the sweeps and stuff.
the clap/snare is way to wet for me, i dont like it!

theres alot of stuff happening in this tune, alot of nice dark stuff.
being a hard style/trance etc fan makes me like this tune but some of the sounds just doesnt fit to well to the "genre".

the bass is getting drowned or something. you have alot of nice stuff in this but your selection of plucks and stuff just make it not to fit!

good job though!

I think try harder bassline(the tip about layering your bassline with is excellent). Then guitar sound will be more delightful...like bassline is dark color and guitar is light color..I think you understood what I'm saying..I think in your timbres need more conflict.

Thats only my 2 cents...
peace
well done

Hey Kris,

Just listened to your sample. There are some good elements in it. Energy is good, the melody during the build up is good. Basschanges halfway through the build up are nice as well.

This track does lack a couple of things though:

- Good bass. The bass you use is too thin
- A good kick , this kick only has low end and therefore sounds muffled
- The percussion could be a bit more intresting
- That clap is kind of horrible It is way to wet and dominant. Choosing a less whippy clap would do this track some good.

Too bad we could not hear the rest of the track yet. It is hard to tell how good or bad a track is when we have not heard what you really want to do with it. A build up is not the most engaging part of a track i.m.o

Anyways keep it up mate!
