Leaving equipment on for extended periods of time?

My mixer is hooked up through my computer so as long as my computer is on, my mixer is on, so it's on for a long time during the day... It tends to get a bit hot to the touch, is that normal or is that bad?

BONUS QUESTION: How do you pronounce Xone as in A&H: Xone? X-one? Zone?

i have a crappy behringer and thats on 24/7, been on constanly for months now! bout the only things its managed to do successfully! if u got club standard gear tho it shuld be fine the punishment they get in those places, heat, humidity, smoke, poor ventalation and on top of that a dj abusing it. they are built to take that kinda stuff!

no he means his audio from his PC is going through his mixer so if he wants to listen to stuff from his PC his mixer must be on all the time!

sounds like some sort of usb 2.0 connection... im interested as well.

as far as overheating, most home electronics can handle this easily because of the lack of moving parts. Only thing to watch for is overheating of the power supply.

but dj mixers are built for this, so no worries meng.

Unless you have a 30 dollar no name mixer, I wouldn't worry, I have mine hooked up the same way and its on for about 20 hours a day, been like this for about 18 months now.

i was thinking a usb powered mixer as well but the above would make sense. at any rate shouldnt the mixer have an independant power switch?

if hes just listening to music on his pc then why does he need his mixer on? it must be a usb connection. as i have my decks + mixer and synths all linked up to the pc although if im listening to tracks i dont need my mixer on unless of course im listening to vinyl. if it was explained better it would help people understand.
