So my friend at work is seeing a nutritionist, and they gave her this diet, so I thought I'd try it too.
Expected weight loss is 12-20 lbs in two weeks.
You can't eat any dairy, sugars, carbs, no alcohol.
You can eat meats, veggies (but nothing grown under the ground, so no onions, beets, carrots - You're not even allowed peas!).
I've been on it 5 days, and holey smokes. My energy level is waaaaay up and it's really changed my outlook on food. I've dropped at least 5 lbs already, and can't wait to look more! I've been struggling at the gym, but this has really helped me to see results. I've been doing long distance walking, too, in preparation for my breast cancer walk in September.
(I'm not a porker, but my mother-in-law is coming to visit and I want to look and feel my best. I'll also be careful about what I start eating again after my two weeks.)
Have any of you tried this or what diets have worked for you?

Sounds a lot like the Atkiens diet...

No carbs in your diet is not a good thing. Read up on it.
It's interesting how your energy levels are up without carbs.

It's only short term, but I'll be reintroducing carbs after two weeks. I don't even miss bread. But pasta....

Now it REALLY sounds like the Atkiens diet.
The Atkiens diet has a very strict 2 week into and you gradually bring the carbs back (since, as it was pointed out, no carbs is BAD) because your brain needs carbs...

In March 2000 I weighed 289lbs.... by the end of July I weighed 168lbs. Thank you Dr. Bernstein!
FYI, I'm now at 185... most of which was intentional weight gain because I was just too damn thin for my own liking.

Food and glycemic response is an important thing to understand if one is going to maintain a healthy weight.

I believe this is the South Beach diet...
On atkins its like carbs are never allowed again.. but on the South Beach Diet you reintroduce carbs and sugars VERY slowly back into your system so you don't gain the weight back..
Its actually a pretty good diet.. most doctors feel its not destructive to your body...
i did it a while back and it worked really good and helped me drop some weight... i suggest getting the South Beach Diet Book as well though because it tells you how to maintain the weight loss after carbs are back in your life...
if i'm not mistaken though... the alcohol remains at a VERY minimal level.. which is why i only did this during the school year.. because lets be honest... no drinking in the summer is just CRAZINESS to me!

I heart Weight Watchers and everything it stands for.
Bahah im like Fergie, practically their spokesperson. WW allows you to eat whatever you like within reason. Everything is divided into points and depending on your weight/height you are allowed a certain number of points per day.
I couldn't survive without bread, cheese and chocolate!

I've had a few friends who had a lot of success with the G.I. Diet
(something RJ was eluding to)
