what REALLY makes a good song???
lately ive been pondering the reasons that make me really like a song.. theres always the lazy reason, "its good to dance to," or, "its got a nice beat." thats bullshit, man, look at yourself rambling on like a friggin BUM! Obviously those are legit reasons, but really "thin" i guess. So whatever, heres what I've come up with, help me out.
BTW- a lot of it is what I like about songs that I like.. so whatever
-great drum intros NOT lacking some sort or melody
-very soft, very low cutoff melody slowly builds and "materializes" into the song
-drum buildups flow with builds and breaks seamlessly
-melody grabs you and says, "LISTEN DAMMIT, CUZ I AINT TELLIN YA TWICE!" But then it repeats a bunch and you love it.
-Slow start, building to a climax and a breakdown transferring into a long "chill" part which slowly, REALLY SLOWLY, builds up again into a huge climax, even bigger than the one before and then breaks onto a great finishing piece maybe 1:00 long or so. time really isnt an issue, just not too long, songs that drag on like that get annoying.
welp, i gotta go eat dinner.. tell me what u think.
-Marc
