about how long are you supposed to burn-in your headphones before using them?

Use them at a pretty loud volume for a few hours and they should be fine. If you want to, you could raise the volume bit by bit to make them 'get used' to it.

Most headphones don't really need a 'burn-in time'. Remember that they are made for DJ's.

1: leave them playing non dance music music to begin with at a soft volume
2: raise the volume a decent bit
3: drop the volume and play dance music (with bass and a kick)
4: raise the volume a decent bit
5: put non dance music on loudly
6: put dance music on loudly

Leave each of these stage on for a few hours. Honestly i dont know what the exact timings are and im sure they change for each pair of headphones, but i did this for my Sony V700's and they work perfectly!

Some full bodied white noise and 24 hours at high volume should set you straight.

They break in naturally anyways-- after 2 or 3 weeks of average listening, the sound is generally better, but to speed up the process you can "burn em in".

My V6's needed about 20 hours use before they got to sounding like they do now.

maybe i just didnt notice this breaking in period. my Hd25s are abt a month old the first time they were used was in a club and even then i thought they sounded better than my old HDJ1000s

Yeah this is a new one for me too...

I've heard about 30 hours at low to medium levels. It is not good to play them really loud at first. You need to loosen them up a bit first at low levels, and then gradually increase the volume.

I never did this with my HD 25's and they are still going strong after 14years. Does it really matter? I doubt it, though i know high end studio monitors are recomended 24 hrs.
