Ableton Live, better than RSN, FL, Cubase etc?????
Hey!
More and more EDM artists like Airbase, Armin etc. are making their music in Ableton Live and I'm just wondering if the traditional programs are "old"? What is so great with Ableton Live that makes artists leave their old progams? I've heard great productions made in Ableton and I must say that the quality sounds better somehow.. I know the new and great features with ableton, is that what makes the program so great? What do u who has made the transition think?
Just wondering because as a beginner I am confused..Am I wasting my time with RSN 3 and FL 6 or what?
Take Care guys! and Girls!

a million things to compare them too... your top 4 should be...
cubase
logic
ableton
sonar
any of those will suffice your capabilities and by the time you're ready to upgrade you'll know 100% what you're looking for in a program

Many are not leaving their well used apps. It's a great addition for throwing together ideas, or for taking your stuff out live..
I certainly wouldn't want to try and complete an entire production in it, though it is certainly possible..

My impression of Live is that it's good for jamming and performing, but it's not so fun to write in. It's just not designed for that.
Ultimately, though, thinking about it in terms of "better or worse" is misleading. Whatever suits your style is better for you.
i'm a cubase user, and love it, its a fantastic program that satisfies all of my production needs. that being said, i've been lazy to test other programs to really examine their benifits. But i've stayed clear for the "don't fix what aint broken" reason. I'm sure abelton has its benifits. but use what works and what you're comfortable with.

I'll probably be using it for playing live in 2 weeks. I absolutely agree with jex. It's awesome for jamming. Automation is very easy, anything can be done "live" which is great, but for composing, I still prefer FL by far.
If theres a chance to import .flp files in live let me know
its a perfect tool, very usefull but i use it just to jam my ideas down and later on i arrange & mix everything in cubase.
Ableton is wicked man, try it! its worth spending the time with it!

Ok, sounds good. Then I'll just continue producing trance in RSN and become the best

Not mad at you but don't loose perspective. Software is only so good right now, and there is more to hardware than just synths.. ;-)
