hi

undoubtfully its been awhile since I was here, havent been doing much of anything related to music for a long long time.

but a couple of rainy days ago I just sat down, inspiration struck...and I made this, very progressive and uplifting.

Updated the track
- Shortened it. Mostly on the first part of the track that due
to how long it took for the track to "kick in".
- Made the bass presence stronger
- New snare and added percussions.
- Removed 4/4 kick and roll in the break.
- Leveled out volumes on saw,pluck synth, pad.
- A few tweaks here and there.

Just thought id return the favour dylan seen as were kind enough to comment on mine.

Positives
---------

* Kick is very nice, got the perfect amount of low end and punch.
* You have a couple of nice FX going on in the background in the intro
* The synth that comes in around 1 minute or so is superb
* Good use of pads in there as well
* Mixing is actually very good after the build up with all part of
your track working well.

Negatives
---------

* Bassline isnt prominent enough and needs to stand out a bit in the mix
* The snare on the 2nd beat of each bar gets a bit repetitive after a while
* Takes a while to get right into the meat of the tune but if its
prog trance i guess thats fine
* Could vary the percussion a little and add a few more elements to keep it interesting around the side of the spectrum.


All in all, a very good effort for the amount of time you've spent on it, but a little work on the bassline in particular would do this track wonders

...true, any suggestions how I can work against this, for example after the climax its in there to give speed and fullness, how does one variate it..should I loose it for a segment of bars...or just add more percs around it?

is it to loud?

i like the synthy melodies coming in and the subtle pads but that snare gets really annoying after a while,it sounds cheap to me,maybe lower it or put more reverb on it...it does take a long time for the track to get into the melodies...

like the main melody in the breakdown - maybe could do with more variation in it...really like the plucked melody coming in around 8 mins...i just feel the track is too long and things take a while to get going..dont like how the melody goes up into a high octave in the breakbeat bit..nice effort tho

Umm,

id definetly lower its volume, take out some of the bass freqs in the snare and perhaps put a touch of reverb on it but not too much

hopefully adjusting the bass will give the track the speed the fullness you require. Youll find a lot of artists put a small snare d with the kick just to give it that little more high end.

You might try adding a clap with a bit of reverb on it on the 2nd beat instead of the snare altogether.

ok. The snare actually has reverb on it, not much. maybe having another sample and/or lowering its volume will work. (try another mastering process)

Im probably not understanding you correctly when you talk about "2nd" beat...what time is the 2nd beat? I´ve been out of it for sometime and the terms goes wooosh *does motion over head*

2nd beat = 2nd kick ......e.g -x-x ......x=snare

..basically where your snares are..
i'd use a reverbed clap instead as eternal suggested...just dont like the sound of that snare - but thats just me

i agree with the snare take it out and replace with a clap it would sound better...all levels seem ok...melodys are nice good solid kik...not a bad effot given youve not made anything in a while...keep up the good work...dont stop now keep makin them nice tunes....reveiw my tune connected by covert23 thanks for the listen m8 all the best michael

commenting as I listen...

I like kick and bass. Kick is pretty heavy but very warm and still ear friendly.
0:55 ... nice hats and background sounds.
The snare however needs to be replaced, it doesnt fit, plus it sounds a little cheap.
1:20 ... melody is nothing for me, and I dont like the synth sound. You could try maybe some filter sweeps or other effects on it. It gets repetitive after a short time.
3:08 ... the track was way too repetitive for my taste until here. With this open hihat (very nice hats btw), this sounds good.
4:16 ... major breakdown, ok. Its well executed.
6:05 ... that driving closed hihat seems strange. I cant point out exactly what it is, but it seems to distract from the open hat. Maybe look at the EQ again to make them seem more like a unity.
7:00 ... nice melody. I personally would like a little clearer, "plastic" sound on that new plucked lead but as you already got that massive saw, it works well in the overall mix.
7:53 ... interesting now, didnt expect a breakbeat here. Maybe a little chaotic with all the leads at that point.
the ending is again very nice.

nice effect on 0030
i like it but there is not much going on from 0 to 0121. then you kind a get assaulted by the nice sounding harpy short synth... you should introduce it fading in with the volume or something. and its a little to loud.. the bass kinda disappears when this hits. The percussion gets really boring byt the 2 minute too... there is no change there. i love the white noise ambiental noises behind. at 0300 i like the that fading up of of the new lead.

0309 finally a change in the in the percussion... but by then im sick of that snare too. you should take it off or put for a bit beore the that

the bass is really subtle throughout .... bring it up a little more

nice transfer at 0417

nice silence. i like the you freq up the synths.
0511 kick comes in.. and it makes sense. and the sequence that follows is well organized including the high freq sounding intrument. but the bass sounds weird compared to the melody. in the apex your melody of that synth you just introduced throughout the silence, make it go up in scale or something... the melody is good but your need to alternate to keep it intrersting

oh and the kick roll is too sudden too
make it longer or also do one iwith a snare
the break at 0659 is not really necessary


0754 thats what i wanted like 2 min ago... and yo should use the kick alternations in your break instead of the 4 step kick at 0511.

try shortening it a little coz you present lots of things again and again in your song. now i know this progressive trance and all but... still. i felt like i already heard the whole song half way through.... make your percussions more dynamic... play more with your drums. thats my advice overall.

now give me some trash on my song
