need feedback on my latest "trance" remix, 140 bpm

Along the same lines of the Madonna remix, but more refined and polished. 8 minutes 14 seconds, 140 bpm. This is for the latest Acidplanet contest, for Lenny Kravitz, "Believe In Me". Check out the original version too, it's really a beautiful song. There are two low quality versions available, but for the best results, I strongly recommend you download the MP3. The wma and realplayer versions just don't sound good at all, and are mainly for streaming applications.

I would love to hear some feedback on it,

thanks for listening...

Just listened to the stream, it's quite a good track. In parts it sounds a bit cheesey (IMO) like around the 3:00 mark (?). I'm not a big fan of vocals in trance music, but these were actually pretty good.

Nice work, you did this all with ACID?

Well I had a problem with the file format and entry method - I deleted the song (shouldn't have from here) and now I can't upload it until I get home. But I will have it up again later, and I'll post when its back.

I did this track on my keyboard and used Acid to supplement it (with the vocals). I made all the music myself, the only supplied loops I used were the vocals. Thanks for listening.

I'm curious, exactly what is cheesy about the part at 3:00? Be as specific as possible, thanks. This is just for my own constructive analysis.

well sorry I didn't have a chance to d/l the file, and it's no longer available for me to listen to. But IIRC, it reminded me of the style of 2Unlimited, or Aqua or something similar, which you'd find played in the 'mainstream' clubs. I think that's what I found cheesy about it, but sorry I just can't remember fully.

Usually I find all trance songs with vocals to be cheesey, as I don't think they belong in trance. But as I said earlier, these vocals were good.

Well unfortunately, I had a problem with the file format and entry submission method - I deleted the song (shouldn't have from here) and couldn't upload it back until I got home yesterday.

Here is the NEW link:

This is the polished, final version. As always, feedback is welcome. Thanks "in advance"

I think this is more an issue with the SONG then - as in - that is the sequence of the melody of the song. So you're saying the chord progression of the original Lenny Kravitz song is cheesy. Just wanted to be clear about that distinction.

I believe vocals CAN be successfully integrated with a 'trance' tune. And I do believe I've done it here.

Thanks for listening again, and be sure to check out the LATEST and FINAL version!!!

pretty sweet tune you got here.. uhh.. the vocals seem a little out of place, mabey try like making them sound a little darker (overdrive perhaps). and one more comment here.. the song deosnt really seem to have a high point, it would be nice if you could build the energy up a little bit, ya know. .anyways, other than that its a killer tune.. keep it up

overdrive on Lenny's voice? I think he has a great voice and I surely would not want to distort it. What, to you, is a trance tune with this type of sound that has vocals that "fit"? I just want to get an idea of where you're coming from.

In regards to having a high point, that's subjective.

Thanks for your feedback!

I just uploaded a 5:23 edit. (Original is 8:14).
