Wow man thats incredible as i had the exact same situation present itself to me, for like a few months after i got my decks i couldnt figure out beatmatching at all(i never once thought about giving up, my love for the music is too strong)but then all of a sudden one night i was just messing around trying to do a good mix and exactly as you said something just clicked inside my head and all of a sudden i could differentiate the beat from the monitor and the beat in my headphones it was like i was wearing headphones and the monitor was the other phone and the two sounded so separately clear to me that i was able to match the beats for a long time and do my first successful transition, it was such a cool experience ill never forget that one instant where i was like wow im actually matching the beat and controlling it, pretty tight shit=)
