Phil York and Nick Rowland April 29 @ Twilight
TWILIGHT AFTERHOURS IS PROUD TO PRESENT:
PHIL YORK & NICK ROWLAND @ TWILIGHT AFTERHOURS
PHIL YORK is one of the fastest rising DJ's on the Scottish club scene and arguably the biggest hard-dance name North of the Border. At the age of 23 he has secured residencies at Tidy and Lashed Scotland as well as being resident at his own night, Nukearpuppy! If this is not enough Phil is also Label manager of 5 labels, Hardtimez, Nukearpuppy, Tranzlation, HTUK, and Bootek!!
Phil started off this career after moving up to Edinburgh in 2000 from his home town of Newcastle and noticing a gap in the market in Edinburgh for the music that he loved. He got together with a few friends and formed his first midweek club, Naked at the legendary Wikkie house. Being such a fresh night run by clubbers it was a roaring success having Scottish debuts for dj's such as Lisa Lashes, Lee Haslam and Charlotte Birch. Phil also gained a residency at Shift running at the same venue where he played alongside dj's such as Ziad, Malcolm Duffy and Vinylgroover.
Other highlights in Phil's career include a cover mount cd mixed with Jason Cortez and a double page featured in August's issue of M8 magazine and a guest mix in the December on Scotland premier dance station beat 106. He also recently broadcast live from Nuklearpuppy in August 2004 across cental Scotland to over a million listeners.
Phil's debut release, 'Freaks' a collaboration with Jason Cortez was released on Recharge in December to acclaim in the music press, with Mixmag's reviewer Guffy putting it a number 3 in the hard-dance review section in January's issue, saying that the track was 'A techno influenced hard-house number that oozes atmosphere, with a big piercing vocal and some twisted effects helps this hit home.
NICK ROWLAND
Over the last 4 years he has shown his talents by writing & engineering a wide variety of music for some of the UKs largest dance music labels. Since his introduction to the scene in 2002, Nick has worked with some of the biggest names in hard dance, including Nick Sentience, Phil Reynolds, James Lawson, Rob Tissera, Nick Rafferty, Ian Betts and many more, while recording for labels including Riot!, Nukleuz, Tidy, Y2K & Six:Thirty to name but a few.
Although an accomplished DJ, playing out has always come second to production. Nick has played for clubs including Innovate & Sundissential in the past and also toured Canada in 2005. This year Nick is working on a live show, and is now starting to concentrate more on playing out, it's about time too!
