Monitor question
I've had my midrange Aiwa hi-fi for almost a decade now and i think the decreasing quality of the sound output is becoming too much. Since I really only use it as an amp and speakers I am thinking about picking up a set of active monitors to replace it (increased quality and reduced space consumption).
I've searched the forum and google, the KRKs and Mackies are too expensive, but I saw someone mention the Alesis M1 Active monitors and the reviews I read are mostly good. They may have been leaning toward production rather than DJing though.
I would be using these speakers for everything, music playback (primarily), DVDs and DJing (CDJ200s and VMC 002, is what I'm planning).
Would these speakers be overly limited by a Creative Labs 24bit Audigy soundcard?
Would they be good for mid as well as nearfield listening?
A concern I have is how loud they would go, there isn't a shop I can visit to test them and I always love the option of blasting music. My aiwa supposedly does 320 RMS and the Alesis speakers are 100 each, but there are other factors that influence the actual decibel level
Any input would be great as I can't test them myself.
