The JP8000 is one of the few synths that haven't been converted over to a softsynth. as far as i know, anyway.

I own a JP8000 and I've found that Pro53 can produce a very good super saw... Synthation's presets are fantastic.

I did use Pro53 for supersaws too, before I got JP8000. And I must agree it can do pretty well.

Likewise..Pro53 can make good supersaws. As said before..the synthation presets have a bit of screaming saws. RB2K1's JP8000 Ensemble bank for Native Instruments Reaktor is impressive as well..but Reaktor is expensive and tough on the CPU. They say the "Superwave p8" is a good freeware supersaw emulation, but frankly... you get what you pay for.

It's actually quite capable. You just have to know how to use it. FX are very important and render/record to audio to bypass the horrid sounding phase when the OSCs reset.

It's the standard JP80x0 VSTi. If you can't get it to sound good, then you probably shouldn't dive into hardware just yet.

It is indeed capable of some nice sounds (I didn't say it was crap), but I find them at a different character than that of the JP-8080s. The saws sound alot more brassy (sometimes metallic) in the JP format than they do in the Superwave (which is more raspy). I used the Superwave for a while before I bought the hardware, and I guess the Superwave was my gateway drug.

In my opinion superwave p8 doesnt have enough saws going at once to get the same timbre as as a JP supersaw oscillator and the saw wave itself sounds different. The LFO phase init is fucked up on P8 too and they never fixed it during the time I was using the synth. The filter is pretty weak and it zippers.

But its free so I would'nt complain

You can make alot of generic 'trancy' sounds on it though and trance pro is even more suited to that end. Not bad for 10 quid. Just dont expect miracles.
