BBC interviews the wrong guy
quote:
Television networks have been known to put just about anyone on the air as an "expert." But the BBC elevated the practice to pure farce last week when, instead of interviewing NewsWireless.net editor Guy Kewney, they accidentally interviewed his cabbie instead. Kewney was supposed to go on air to discuss Apple Computer's victory in a trademark lawsuit filed by The Beatles' Apple Corp. over its use of the Apple logo in iTunes. But a producer grabbed the baffled cabbie, who was wearing a "Guy Kewney" name tag, and seated him in the studio. YouTube and other video-sharing websites featured the instant-classic clip, where the cabbie's look of horror was quickly replaced by a game face as he tried to answer BBC interviewer Karen Bowman's questions.
the BBC were awesome at fuckups man seriously, I used to catch shit on a daily basis. Names/ job titles, typos ALL THE TIME. Fackin drunks in that country, innit

Saw this last night and nearly pissed myself. I feel so sorry for the guy though, he realizes what is going on as soon as the lady introduces him as that Kewney guy and yet continues to participate.

True that. Hats of to him for trying to answer the questions thrown at him and not admitting that hes the wrong guy and embarrasing the channel.

He wasn't actually a cabbie. He was applying for a job at BBC. Hilarious nonetheless LOL.

OK, reset everything you've heard about my appearance on the BBC: they've found the "taxi driver" and (as I have constantly tried to explain to everybody) he isn't a taxi driver.
His name is Guy Goma - which goes some way to explaining why he (and the BBC receptionist) assumed that someone asking for Guy Kewney was asking for him.
And he wasn't there to pick up a fare, because he's not a cabbie. He's a Business Studies graduate, from the Congo, and he was there in reception because he was applying for a high level IT job with the BBC.
Apparently the unflappable Mr Goma assumed the whole thing was some kind of initiation prank. His own speciality is data cleansing, and (my source inside the Beeb tells me) was "a little upset that nobody asked him about his data cleansing expertise."
Once again, the Daily Mail proves itself to be hotter on this trail than anybody else, and a Mail reporter has been posing Mr Goma outside the White City headquarters of the BBC. A picture story will be in tomorrow's edition, apparently.
That guys face is awesome !! I love his eyes moving around, too funny !
