Thumbs down link-sharing

what the fuck is going on with all that link-sharing in the tracklist request/posting-forum lately?

is this board turning into a filesharing platform or what?

Good Thread but as long as tracklists are posted with the links so other members of TA can help with the tracklist....I see no problem.

I really find it difficult with someone asks for a tracklist from say for example: Dave seaman from XYZ radio....we might not have this set or readily remember the set tracklist.A link to the set so various members can help serves well.

However, When links to sets are just spammed without any tracklist or for pure promotion, that can get annoying.

What bugs me is someone asks for a tracklist then someone comes along and posts "Link? " and nothing else.

Asking NICELY for a link if you cant find it anywhere else is one thing, but ASSUMING the threadstarter is gonna post a link is crazy.

not to poop on your Grumpy Day parade here, but..

why shouldn't the files be available to whoever wants them?
(provided they're livesets of course... we all know TA doesn't condone filesharing [of retail albums, that is])

why not share them? doesn't everyone at least deserve to hear it? yeah.. it's nice when someone on Soulseek asks for a file, but if someone just downloads it, why give them a hard time? aren't they doing enough simply by wanting to listen to it anyways? i mean, seriously... who listens to electronic music these days anyways??

on a more serious note though... the more people you share your livesets with, the more likely they are to perhaps share them with some other unfortunate souls who have lived under a rock long enough to not listen to some good house, techno, trance, et al. in other words... why not?

personally i find nothing wrong with the sharing of live sets. for the most part they are broadcasted on radio (non premium radio im thinking) and therefore can be recorded and shared privately so long as it isn't for profit.

correct me if im wrong but i was always under the impression that if live sets are recorded this way, then it would be under the public domain and thus legal to share with friends and stuff, once again as long as money is not made from it.

i mean, if the DJ specifically said upfront "no recording of this live set" then obviously it wouldn't exist. but if he/she gave the green light to broadcast it on radio then i suppose there's also a green light to share it with those who can't make it to the live show, or be able to listen to the live broadcast.

anyway, its probably a bit off topic but i had to get that off my chest.
