Djm400 & Efx1000

I'm about to buy the new EFX1000 from pioneer but I need a mixer too so I was thinking about the DJM400. But I'm not sure DJM400 is going to work with EFX1000. Someone told me to get DJM600 instead of DJM400 because EFX-1000 will only work with DJM600/900/1000. Is it true?

Depends what you mean by "work"
What you need to understand is that it just needs to sit within the signal chain.
The djm400 doesnt have a send a recieve since its only two channel but you can put the efx between the mixer and the amp. The problem with that option is you can only apply effects to the master output.

The djm400 already has effects built in.
All you need in a mixer is a send/recieve, this is just an output from the mixer to whatever you want and back in to the mixer again.

Yep of course it'll work.

Doesn't it seem odd to spend as much money on an EFX unit as the mixer?

You could just get the DJM-800 instead! You won't have quite the control as you would with the EFX, but you'd have a better mixer, which at least for me is FAR more important than any EFX. Just a thought...

Yes, just a send/return.

I'de go with the DJM 400 if I were you. Yeah it might not be as good as the DJM 800, but it's really not that different from it as far as build construction goes. It is just smaller, has only two channels (and if you only have CDJs then all you need is two channels, 4 is only if you want to add either more CDJs or TTs), and doesn't have digital ins/outs or the harmonic mixing feature, but if you find the keys to your tune manually and learn that way, it's better than having the mixer do it for you. I dunno if it even works that well, since BPM counters don't. Pioneer makes better mixes then Stanton does...I can tell you that, whether it's the DJM 300/400, or the 500/600/800 etc.

The reason why I started this thread is that the guy from my local pioneer store told me djm400 is not going to work with efx-1000. Since efx-1000 is somewhere around 900euros (which is a lot of money for me), and I cant afford to buy a mixer which is not going to support efx-1000. and btw djm400 is expensive too ... 450-500euros for only 2 channels, no send/return function ..etc. I think I'll go with stanton

Personally I would spend the extra coin on getting a top mixer... Maybe one with good quality built in effects, then save up and buy the efx1000 later.

hey the stanton c304 has six built in effects which are all really good for its price/class range...ditch the efx idea and buy a good mixer besides effects don't really do much and are played out (well, not really, but mixer > effects unit).

And considering you are willing to pay almost $700 US for an effects unit, and $200-300 for that mixer, combine those both and you can get a VERY nice mixer with effects!

Nuo 5 maybe?

i totally agree but my main goal was to get my hands on efx-1000. Thats why I'm buying a new mixer too. Right know I have gemini 250 which works just fine.
