Deeper Shades of Euphoria

I was moving some .mp3s to my computer at work so that I could finally have some music to pass the day, and I ran across Deeper Shades of Euphoria mixed by Jay Burnett. I especially enjoy disc 2. I'm not even sure what genre one would consider this, but it's a welcome break from the usual athemic mix/comps.

I recall reading that Jay mixed a Deeper Shades vol. 2. Has anyone listened to this? What are your thoughts and recommendations? Worth picking up? I've found that the Euphoria series are very much hit or miss. I either play the CD till it breaks, or it collects dust and I kick myself for wasting money.

I have volumes 1 and 2. If you like Volume 1, you'll love volume 2 - its wicked and highly recommended.

Whcih volume has Agnelli & Nelson - Everytime (Coast to Coast Mix) into Delirium - Silence? that is the perfect end to Disk 1 of whichever volume it is.

I remember just kicking back and listening to it wondering how on earth such a mix was ever made.

Everyone should give them a listen. It compares to Euphoria Level for greatness.

Thanks for the reply! I'll have to dig around and see if I can come up with Volume 2. I love the Solar Stone remix of Southern Sun. That track alone made Volume 1 worth the price! Maybe one of Amazon's retailers will have a copy of Volume 2 on the cheap.

Theres a small bit of semi-cheese on them, but they could certainally be classed as different from most compilations.

Volume 1, both disks, are simply breathtaking. Music doesn't get any more beautiful than this! I stumbled across it about 2 years ago, and the mixes just bring a new depth to all the tracks (ooh, Deeper euphoria, there you go )

Volume 2 is still very good, but not quite in the same league as the original. It features a few more laid back and trance mixes of pop songs rather than trance classics (damn fine quality mixes mind you!)

Not sure what this genre is called! I used to call it progressive trance... though at times it's definitley more ambient/chill out trance than you'd hear out.

Whatever, who cares what genre it is, they're damn special compilations!

Thanks again for the insight, TAs. Do any of you know of similar mix/comps out there? I own a lot of CDs, and so far Deeper Shades stands alone as far as being similar is concerned. I simply don't own anything else like it. My best memory of it is a spring camping trip with a good friend. He had a 4x4 GMC Jimmy (an SUV) with a set of 12" subs in the back. We had a chocolate blunt and laid the seats back into the 12"s and just fucking melted into Southern Sun while looking out at the stars and the surrounding countryside. Christ that was breathtaking! Then some crazy people showed up drunk and ruined the night.
