4'33"

what's better listening music in your opinion, a recorded liveact of john cage's 4'33" or someone playing it for you live?

And why was it 4 min 33 sec long rather then some other length of time?

Someone make a remix!

Here is a video to show you what this is. Listen to the commentator explain what its about.

lmao at the clock so he knows its exactly 4 min 33 sec.
Some of the comments by the commentator, "you could cut the tension with a knife." And what was with the conductor whiping the sweat from his forehead, he wanst doin anything And why was he taking a bow.

And to answer the original question, I think I would prefer to hear it at home, more interesting noises/sounds or more quiteness, rather then stupid audience chuckling or coughing.

I just watched that video performance there.

I just think it's hilarious to see how views toward 4'33" have changed. In the video, it receives a thunderous applause. When it was first performed. It caused a riot. A full blown riot made up of big wigs and high brows wearing suits. I don't know what to think of the fact that something once so artistically offensive is now considered the highest of art. I can't help but think humanity has gone off the deep end.

tends to be like that with art/music. i.e. Stravinsky's Rite of Spring
i dun see it as humanity going off the deep end, just that some people take longer to appreciate something new.
