Car audio system for trance?

For those of you who know car audio and love electronica music, what kind of system would you suggest?

I already have duel 12" and a duel 10" boxes, and the wires are all hooked up. Should I go for decent 12" subs or good 10" subs? Which kind? What kind of amp? Im looking to spend about 200-250 on the subs and 200-250 on the amp.

Thanks in advance!

12" subs aren't for 4:4.

Trust me on this, I made the mistake of buying 12" woofers and it doesn't sound as clean.

Get the 10". It will sound amazing.

Back in the day I had a set of 8" MTX Blue Thunder in some little truck boxes. They weren't full of heart stopping bass, but damn they kicked all sorts of ass compared to an ordinary factory system. Many a day of wake n bake and get lost in the trance in that truck.

Thanks, now to find out which 10"s. Im thinking about going with JL audio. Ive had 10s before from them in my first car long ago and they sounded great. Then a good amp to push em. Damn my habits are expensive!

haha, I did that all the time in my old car. Im installing a new system in my new one. But I remember getting entranced in traffic listening to the pounding techno. Its weird though, cause I drive SO good when Im like that.

They should put that on a "above the influence" ad.

I don't know if it was the system or the ganja, but I swear I could hear sounds and layers that I'd never heard in a song before even though I had played the CD to death and had the choon memorized. Legalize it!

Very nice. I've been downloading alot of .flac files, and I hope the quality of these songs are better than mp3! So, I am gonna put them on a CD and put some tunes on in the car (Usually U2, they have songs with amazing bass). I love driving stoned.

I know exactly what your saying. I think its both the green and the system working with eachother to make your ears orgasm. All the layers in the music seem to fit perfectly or something...like how its supposed to be heard.

i once hot-boxed my car and then proceeded to hear a marble bouncing around me on glass table-tops while i was listening to a Dave Seaman CD.

i have an Infinity Basslink (10" self-powered subwoofer) in my car... perfect for adding just a little bit of punchy bass without getting too loud or heavy sounding.

I've moderated 2 car modification sites in my time, one I still moderate, and I come across this question all the time.
Basically for a sound system that can handle quick beats, you'll not want a big sub, as the bigger inch sub the more air has to be moved and as such takes longer,so you'd get delayed and distorted bass in your car, which I have experienced and get really annoyed by.

A 10" will not do you any large harm, a 12" is definately out of the question.
Now, JL Audio is a nice make, but any of these brands listed below I know are in the same league:

A/D/S
Alpine
AudioControl
Becker
Blaupunkt
CDT Audio
Clarion
Crystal
Diamond Audio
Digital Designs
Directed Audio
DLS
Focal
Genesis
Helix
Hifonics
JL Audio
MB Quart
Nakamichi
Orion
Phase Linear
Phoenix Gold
Pioneer
Precision Power
Rainbow
Resonant Engineering (RE)
Rockford Fosgate (RF)
Sinfoni
Soundstream
SPL Dynamics
TRU
US Amps
Viper
Xtant
Zapco

I would recommend against Sony. They mass produce really basic, low budget components just to make a quick buck, and sell on the sony brandname.
The more you pay usually the better quality you get but sony isn't.

How much you wanting to spend on the whole set up,and have you already got a decent H-U?
