Re: ok so i finally checked out cdj's...
You have to set the pitch range to 6% in order to get the .02% increments.
I think the reason that there aren't any effects on the CDJ-1000's are that when they came out 4-5 years ago, it wasn't really an option.
Other high end CDJ's (Denon SN-S3500, for example) do have on board effects.

-i was amazed at how easy the transition is from playing vinyl to playing cd's. i literally started spinning between a 1000 and a 200 like i had been using them for months- piece of cake! (i have been spinning vinyl for 2-3 years)
-i was really impressed with the 200. it's excellent value for the money- the effects are awesome, the looping (to me) is just as easy to use as the 1000, and everything else seemed up to par with the higher models.
-the only reason i think i will buy an 800 over the 200 is the 'vinyl' mode. i'm just so used to spinning vinyl that i don't want to deal with the 'cdj' mode that the 200 one is stuck in to cue up tracks.
-i concluded that the 1000 is basically a much cooler looking 800
-someone posted on a previous thread that the 200 and 1000 can change tempo in .02% increments. maybe i had the settings wrong, but all the ones i were using (1000, 800, 200) moved in .05%, and none at .02%. again, maybe it was me.
-question: why didn't they build effects into the 800 or 1000? i liked the sound of the effects on the 200 better than on my EFX500!
CONCLUSION- i think i will buy one 800 and use it with my two 1200's.

pitch adjust button above the slider lets you change between 6/10/16. I've played around a bit with the 800 and 1000.. sure they're supposed to be "better" models, but there's just something about the 200 that feels really natural to me - the button placements, the size, the wheel, the proportions. Maybe it's the fact that I've never even touched a vinyl, and that those later models might have been made to accomodate the habits of the vinyl savvy people.
