I can't speak for the Micron, but the supersaw isn't really "out of style", it's just less common as the lead. Supersaw pads are used quite oftenh, as well as plucks produced with the JP-80x0.

Well i think you should be able to get "all" sounds out of one of these synths, dont think you need to change to the micron for that reason

Is the supersaw out? HELL NO!!, Its like saying that disted guitars in hard-rock music are out.

if the supersaw is out of style for trance, then the guitar must be out of style for rock!

The JP-8000 does a hell load more than supersaws - Its a full on VA - just a bit of an old one thats starting to show its age. Christ, Hybrid use a JP regularly and I havent heard a single cliched glowsticks in the air lead or a Rank 1 clone pad from them.

Just try it out. Dont reserve judgement on the presets either as every synth I have ever played has always been capable of outdoing its own factory banks.

maybe i should rephrase my original post

what i m eant by the superwave being out is that you dont hear that 90'sstyle in your face supersaw lead in every track ,driving you crazy back in the 90's when anthem trance and epic trance were in ...

so back to my post if i got a synth that did that and i did a track like that with the supersaw as the main lead and such

since its not the 90's anymore would that be a good thing.

its kind of like a lot of people dont use 303s anymore to do acid trance anymore

so my question is more would you do a track and mix some characteristics of an older stlye genre in your new track.

A synth is an instrument. Just like any other instrument.

If you think it sounds cliched or boring then that is a failure on the part of the person playing that instrument to get anything interesting sounding out of it. It is not an inherant flaw of the instrument itself.

I still hear some people making really interesting sounds on devilfishes and modded 303s, despite them being discontinued in the mid 80s and despite being dubbed a cliche in the mid 90s.

The point is, use whatever instrument you want. Just stick with it and practice practice practice. Keep working on your performance and sound design (where applicable) and for god's sake put some soul into it. Thats the only thing I really give a shit about in music these days...
