sound problem (amp/mixer) help please

hey guys, wondering wether anyone could help out.
yesterday was mixing and sound suddenly started to cut out in breaks. i noticed it when i turned the volume up higher. i also did it when i use the effects on my pioneer mixer. thought this was a bit dodgy. cant work out what it is, the sound level was higher than normal, but nothing over the top. thinking it may be a prob with my amp because it became really hot on top, which is not normal, but the effects cutting the sound out too had me thinking, just hope i havnt blown my mixer. also if i put both faders up with both decks playing it would cut out and back in too. its like somethings either blown in my amp or mixer. any suggestions?
pretty much a noob when it comes to the sound tech stuff.

thanks for your time.

get a different sound source to your amp...that means take your mp3 player and put it's headphone's out to your amp...if it works you know it's not your amp...and it's somewhere in the mixer/CDJs/TTs...or notebook...what you use :?

if you know your amp is ok you can test your mixer with any other two sources to eliminate the possibility of problem being in your CDJs/TTs

can't think for much else...good luck... :-)

btw...these advices are just what came on my mind...they are unwarranted

Sounds like its your mixer.
Short of getting another soundsource put that level faders up to where its cutting out but turn the master volume knob down. If its cutting then youv pretty much narrowed it to the mixer.

ok guys thanks for the help, just found another amp randomly that i put away years ago, and sound seems to be fine at all levels, so its gotta be an amp problem. i thought as much because the amp was getting very hot which is unusual. may be a fuse, possibly internal, really dont know, going to have to get it checked out.
hoping its nothing major, really cant fork out for a new amp at the mo.

thanks for your time, appreciate it.
