So I've just broken my latest pair of Stanton DJ Pro 3000 headphones. That brings the total up to 6 pairs in the last year. Not bad, considering they've all been replaced under the Stanton warrenty without an issue.

Just FYI before you all freak out: I baby my gear, very much so. Ask anyone who knows me. Nobody except me uses my stuff. I'm very careful with everything. So before you make the comment that I'm hard on headphones or something, I'm not They have all broken in the exact same spot.

Now my question is this. I have tested and enjoy both the Pioneer HDJ-1000's as well as the Technics RPH-1200 headphones.

What, in your personal opinion have the best sound, best option for warrenty (if they break), compactability, reliability, etc. between the two previously mentioned?

Personal opinion, not worried about price. More looking for personal experience and opinions here.

I'm not interested in getting the Sennheiser 255P's as I've tried them and I find that I really like having full closed ear headphones. The sound is fantastic, I just can't get used to them enough to enjoy them.

I also don't want to bother with the Sony MDRV700's mainly due to the fact that they are the same design as the Stanton's (or vice versa considering the Sony's came first).

Final thought before I end this: yes I know there have been countless threads on headphones, I'm aware of the sticky at the top, and I created this with full knowledge of the other threads.

Freak busted about 6 pairs of the Pioneers in a year in a legendary thread a while back.

A lot of people here use the Sony MDR-V6 or Sony MDR-7506 (same headphone, different colour stickers). They are great, I love mine. Super comfortable, sound great, and so far seem to be extremely sturdy.

I opted for the Denon HP1000's and love them, I tried the Technics and the Pioneer's in the store. The Denons had much beter sound an I felt comfordable wearing them, at the end of the day its all down to what you prefare

My Stanton 3000s havnt broke yet


And I have had them for at least a year.

I have Sony MDR-v6s and they are SOOOO aweesome. Same thing as Sony MDR-7506.

Very comfortable, flexible and good for DJing and for studio use. Several people on this forum have converted from Pio's and Techs and Sony's 700s to 7506 or v6 and love them. Ask DJ RJT for example.

Now IMHO Sony MDR-700 are awfull. They are so uncomfortable. I used them at my friends house and at a record shop and couldnt stand them. Nothing compared to V6's ot v7506

Ultrasones are good too

I tried the Pion's and they snapped after about six months...my tech's have been amazing, i think the sound quality is a wee bit better as well!!

I think it's to each their own though...it also depends if the mixer has good cueing options, that will impact the quality and volume of the sound in the headphones...

you seem to be fond of phones that break...

i'd stay away from all those you listed. i preach the same as the above brothers, 7506s. you may also wanna consider Sennheisers, really good stuff. the only time my 7506s weren't cutting it, due to a DISGUSTINGLY loud booth, i used the Senn HP25. i still prefer my phones, but those are pretty damn good. i hear great things about the HD280 as well.
