I dunno, the Iranians will never be in a better position to get nuclear weapons as America is bogged down in Afghanistan and Iraq and the last thing the American puclic would want is another war that would make Iraq look like a playground fight.
Some may see the fact that the US has so many troops close to Iran as putting the US at an advantage (so did I immediately after the occupation of Iraq/Afghanistan) but I think its the other way round now.
The US and Iran both know that if the US were to strike at Iranian nuclear targets then Iran has about 150,000 Americans it can attack with great ease.
Most of Irans neighbours in the region are shit scared of Iran getting nuclear weapons but they are also shit scared that not only will Iran disrupt oil supplies if she is attacked but it may also strike targets in these countries as Iran could claim they have helped the US to attack it.
So I think the neighbours will be unwilling to allow US troops to use their countries to attack Iran.
